Kyle Fenrick
OWNER/OPERATOR
Born and raised in Nanaimo, BC, Kyle Fenrick has deep roots on Vancouver Island. His connection to the community is so profound that his oldest son now attends kindergarten with the very same teacher Kyle had decades ago. This sense of history and belonging drives his passion for building homes that contribute positively to the region he loves. Kyle’s career began early, cleaning construction sites after school during his high school years. Through hard work and grit, he progressed from general labor to formwork and framing, eventually completing his Apprenticeship and earning his Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter certification from Vancouver Island University. Now, with over 17 years of industry experience, Kyle has an impressive portfolio ranging from high-end custom builds and spec homes to complex commercial projects across BC and the Northwest Territories.
In 2016, Kyle returned to Nanaimo with his wife, Kaelyn, to raise their four children—Koen, Kameron, Kenley, and Koah—and founded Fenrick Construction Ltd. What started as a vision has grown into a true family-operated business; Kyle’s dedication to the trade inspired three of his younger cousins to pursue carpentry, all of whom are now integral parts of the team. Kyle is known for a hands-on leadership style that bridges the gap between on-site craftsmanship and project management. He is highly skilled in budgeting, scheduling, and planning, ensuring that every build is organized and transparent. A strong believer in collaboration, Kyle works closely with clients, suppliers, and trades to deliver successful projects that families can be proud of for generations to come.
SAM FOWLER
CONSTRUCTION MANAGER
Sam Fowler brings a great wealth of international experience and a standard of excellence to the Fenrick Construction team. Born and raised in New Zealand, Sam earned his Journeyman Carpentry certification and spent years honing his craft before moving to Canada in 2013. With over 16 years of industry experience as a journeyman, he combines the rugged durability of Kiwi construction with the high aesthetic standards required in modern Canadian custom home building. Sam’s connection to the company is both professional and personal. He is married to Kyle’s sister, Kayla, making him a true member of the Fenrick family.
As a father to Ada and Ellis, Sam shares the company’s core values of family, integrity, and building for the future. Since joining Fenrick Construction in 2017, he has become a pivotal leader, managing on-site operations with a sharp eye for detail. Specializing in framing and finishing, Sam is renowned for his technical expertise and organizational skills. As Construction Manager, he ensures that projects run efficiently, sites remain organized, and every phase of construction meets the company’s rigorous quality expectations. Beyond his technical ability, Sam is deeply committed to the future of the trade. He takes great pride in mentoring apprentices, helping to develop the next generation of skilled tradespeople on Vancouver Island. Sam’s leadership style is defined by a commitment to teamwork and pride in workmanship.
